Matthew Allan Cole, son of Bryan Leslie and Vicky Kay (Bexell) Cole, was born August 3, 1976, in Des Moines, Iowa. Matt was raised in Des Moines and attended and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Des Moines, Iowa. Matt excelled in sports in high school, particularly in tennis and basketball. Matt went on to attend classes at DMACC in Ankeny, Iowa.
On March 24, 2007, Matt was united in marriage to Lyndsey Doonan at the United Methodist Church in Dallas Center, Iowa. From this union, two children were born, Ellie Ann and Mason James. Matt was a stay-at-home dad and also held many jobs over the years, including PDI, Pepsi, FedEx, Owens & Minor, and Coke, and was currently employed by Dart as a bus operator. Matt enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing basketball and tennis, watching his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes and Denver Broncos, and was an avid movie-goer. Matt loved animals and enjoyed spending time with his new puppy, Lilly. Matt was very funny; he made us all laugh when he danced to Footloose, did his impersonations, and quoted all his favorite funny movies. Above all, the greatest loves in his life were his children. Matt cherished every moment he spent with them; including ice skating, fishing, going to the movies, cheering them on at their sporting events, or just relaxing at home with family movie night.
Matt passed away unexpectedly at the age of 45 at his home in Des Moines, Iowa. Matt will be dearly missed by his children, Ellie and Mason Cole, and their mother, Lyndsey Smith, all of Dallas Center, his parents, Bryan and Vicky Cole, of Des Moines, his brother Scott Cole, of Des Moines, sister-in-law Anna Cole of Des Moines, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other family and friends, and his beloved dog Lilly. Matt was preceded in death by his grandparents Vincent and Madlynn Bexell, Donald and Frances Cole, and his brother, Jake Cole.
