Matthew A. “Ike” Lennon, 68, of 84 Oakhurst Ave., passed away on Friday, October 17, 2008 at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield, January 17, 1940, the son of Matthew A. Lennon Sr. and Anna E. Taffe Lennon, he attended the local schools and was a 1958 graduate of St. Josephs High School where he played many sports. He also studied criminal justice at Boston College.
Mr. Lennon was a police officer for 34 years in the Pittsfield Police Department. He retired in December 26, 1998.
He was an avid sports fan and he enjoyed fishing, playing pitch, and golfing. He frequently played golf at Pontoosuc Country Club and his favorite course was Bass Ridge.
He and his late wife, the former Jane A. Bertini were married January 11, 1985. She died, September 12, 2005.
He leaves two sons, Nicholas Lennon of Hancock and Jameson Lennon of Pittsfield, and a daughter, Elizabeth Lennon of Pittsfield, and his dog, Clyde. He was predeceased by a sister, Linda Lennon.
