Matilda “Totsie” Carrasco McKnight, 87, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 at her home in Senoia, GA. She was born July 10, 1926 in Newnan to the late Joe Carrasco & Alice Moses Carrasco. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. McKnight, Jr. and her brothers, Dr. Enrico Carrasco & Joe Carrasco. Mrs. McKnight grew up in Newnan and graduated from Shorter College with a bachelor’s degree in Education. She and her family were founding members of St. George Catholic Church in Newnan and St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. She was active at St. Mary Magdalene where she was chairwoman of the church’s Rosary Committee. She served many years in the Coweta County School System on PTA boards. She was an active member of the community and was chairwoman of the Senoia Library Board, a member of East Coweta Booster Club, and a charter member of the Variety Club of Senoia. She is survived by children, Ray (Julianne) McKnight of Newnan, Carl (Jill) McKnight of Senoia, Alice (Chris) McKnight Ramsey of Brooks, Margaret McKnight of Senoia, JoAnne (Bill) McKnight Underwood of Senoia, Jim McKnight of Senoia; sister, Effie Carrasco LaFargue of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Amanda (Steve) McKnight Alter of Marietta, Monica (Matt) McKnight Lovett of Newnan, Mac, Carly, & Macy McKnight of Senoia, Mallory & Will Underwood of Senoia, Jay McKnight of Senoia; great-grandchildren, Bailey & Drew Alter of Marietta, Jett & Mattie Louise Lovett of Newnan.
