Matilda Jane (Parsons) Dalton, age 71, of Grafton, West Hill Community, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, September 22, 2011, at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born January 11, 1940, in Taylor County, West Hill, a daughter of the late Denzil Parsons and Ethel (Dalton) Parsons. Her husband, of 55 years, Arnold Eugene “Gene” Dalton, survives, they were united in marriage November 19, 1955. Matilda attended West Hill Wesleyan Methodist Church. She was retired having had various occupations, and worked for several companies including: Sugardale Foods, the Flemington Tomato Plant, and most recently she was an aid at Rosewood Center. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking for her family, and shopping. Although Matilda worked outside the home her greatest achievement was her five children: Beverly Miner and husband Carl, of Philippi, Timmy Dalton and wife Patricia, of Grafton, Danie R. “Butch” Dalton and wife Karen, of Grafton, Kevin Dalton and wife Crystal, of Grafton, and Gregory Dalton and wife Jennifer, of Bridgeport. Also surviving are: eight grandchildren, Kimberly Smith, of Elkins, Shawn Miner, of Philippi, Natasha Sheme, of Grafton, Samantha Anderson, of Fairmont, Christopher Dalton, of Grafton, Dustin Dalton, of Grafton, Jonathan Dalton, and Andrew Atkinson, of Bridgeport; two great grandchildren, Lilly Anderson, and Madelyn Lynch; two sisters Diane Kennedy, of Grafton, and Erma Dalton and husband Fenton, of Grafton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three grandchildren in infancy, Rachael Dalton, Brandon Dalton, and Zachary Dalton, and one brother, Terry Parsons.
