Matilda Elizabeth Hershberger September 9, 1930 – April 27, 2016 Matilda E. “Tilly” Hershberger, 85, of Wooster, died Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Smithville-Western Care Center following a lengthy illness with Alzheimer’s.
Tilly was born Sept. 9, 1930 in Rittman to the late Frank and Mary (Yardace) Cardace and married Harold Hershberger on Aug. 23, 1971. He preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 2005. She had worked as a restaurant cook in Rittman, at the Wilbert Co. and was head of housekeeping at Wayne General Hospital. She had made her home in the Rittman and Doylestown area and in Wooster since 2005 and enjoyed watching game shows and playing Bingo.
Surviving are her children; Charmaine O’Connor of New Pittsburg, Cathy Likens of Creston, Sherry Hershberger of Doylestown, Gary (Jill) Hershberger of Marshallville, Beth (Scott) Quattrocchi of Wooster and David Hershberger of Wooster; 9 grandchildren including Nicole Browning whom Tilly and Harold raised and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Angelo and Joseph Cardace.
