Mike Lueken, 64, of Viera passed away after a hard-fought battle with Glioblastoma, a vicious and aggressive form of brain cancer.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 37 years, Micheline, cherished sons Michael and Peter, brother Joseph, and sister Barbara Flitton. Mike met Micheline in 1979 while he was stationed at NOTU and she worked at Vitro Laboratories, in Cape Canaveral. They fell in love, married in 1980, and lived in Washington state (where the boys were born), Connecticut, and Virginia on Navy assignments until finally returning home to Brevard County in 1994.
He was a handyman, Computer geek (but not very good at social media), SCUBA Instructor and was always fascinated with shipwrecks, submarines, and naval history. After retiring, he planned on going back to school to become a Marine Archaeologist, but sadly, the cancer stopped him.
But despite all that, if he could speak to you now he’d still say to always take care of those you love, to forever keep your hope alive and to never let your dreams die. After all, love, hope and dreams are the only good things we’ll ever truly have.
His family wishes to thank the Hospice of St. Francis staff, especially Evelyn, his RN, and Yolande, his CNA, for their wonderful love, care and support.
