Maryanne (Beckwith) Stone, 78, of Manchester, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018 after complications from an accidental injury. She was born on November 20, 1939 in Manchester, pre-deceased by her parents, Clyde and Ruth (King) Beckwith. Maryanne was raised in Manchester, attended local schools and had been a resident of Manchester and Vernon, Connecticut. She was previously employed with law offices in Manchester, the Hartford Insurance Group, and more recently as a secretary at Manchester Memorial Hospital until her retirement. Maryanne was a longtime member and past officer of the Manchester Grange #31.
Maryanne loved to read, walk along the Cape Cod shores, work out, crossword puzzles, and bake. She also had a passion for loons and lighthouses. She is especially remembered for the birthday and wedding cakes she made for family and friends over the years. She is also remembered for her ability to bring to life any lessons she taught in Sunday school classes in years past or, more recently, as Lecturer in Grange. Maryanne was also an avid UCONN Women’s basketball fan, cheering them on every chance she could. Maryanne is survived by her two children; Lisa G. Stone of Coralville, Iowa and Charles W. Stone III, and his spouse Jennifer, of Kalona, Iowa, sister Roxane Wilson of Manchester, brother Orrin Beckwith and his spouse Marjorie of Surprise, Arizona, sister Priscilla Cushman and her spouse Sidney of Manchester, and sister Ruth Beckwith of Cambridge, MA. Maryanne’s four beloved grandchildren; Josiah Stone, Nathanael Stone, Rebekah Egli and her spouse Isaac, and Benjamin Stone and her longtime friend Leona Wilson of Manchester.
