Mary Williams Miller peacefully slipped free of the bonds that anchored her sweet soul this side of heaven in the early morning hours of February 27, 2020. For several years, she had found her circle of activity draw smaller and smaller as her health issues became a major factor in her life. The woman who would proudly wear the mantle of “Nana” was born November 27, 1935 in Abbeville, South Carolina. She was the youngest of four children born to the late Richard, the local postmaster, and his wife Clarkie Guillebeau Williams. She graduated from Abbeville High School and later attended Lander University in South Carolina. She was blessed by her marriage to Robert (Bob) Miller and together they shared an exceptional love story that encompassed 54 years. To know “Nana”, one would come into full realization of the fact that one was in the presence of the embodiment of phrase southern belle ingenue. One would have to decide if that role came naturally or if it was a carefully crafted characterization of her great imagination. Mary was a dedicated employee of The Arrow Shirt Company where she served as human resources manager for 30 years until her retirement in 1995. In addition to her parents and beloved Bob, Mary was predeceased by her brother Francis Williams. Also preceding her in death were her sons-in-law, Eddie Stephens and Norman Robbins. One could say with certainty that Nana has also found her little Sewell great grandbaby she had never met as she crossed over into heaven. Mary is survived by her daughter Cecilia Robbins. Nana would become a huge part of the life of her granddaughter, Heather Sewell and her husband Kyle. She adored her great granddaughters Sarah and Keeleigh, and her great grandson, Jackson Cooper. Also surviving Mary are her siblings Edith Blanchett and Lura Jean Chandler.
