Mary Susan Grady, 73, of Charlotte, passed away unexpectedly, on Tuesday September 25th, at Novant-Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. She left this life comfortable and surrounded by family.

She was born July 9th, 1945 in Buffalo, New York and attended Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic School in Syracuse New York, went to high school at the convent school for girls and Bryant and Stratton Business College in Buffalo, New York. In addition to Charlotte, Mary spent part of her life in Buffalo and Syracuse, New York, Los Angeles, California and Detroit, Michigan.

Mary owned her own interior design business as well as a furniture reupholstering business for many years. She spent the last 20 years working for Bank of America in Charlotte. Mary enjoyed traveling and had just returned from two weeks in Alaska with her husband and best friends, John and Lindy Langston. The previous year they enjoyed a cruise to England on the Queen Mary II.

Mary’s true passion was helping others. She mentored many women through several 12-step programs and touched many lives through her service in the community.

Mary Susan Grady is survived by her husband of 46 years, Michael Henry Grady, and three sons Kevin Michael Grady (44), his girlfriend Brittainy Marae Benzie, and her daughter Christian Marae, Brian Patrick Grady (42), his wife Laura Francis Grady, and their son Flynn (6), and Brendan Vincent Grady (40), his wife Brittany Anne Grady, and their 3 daughters, Elaina (12), Evelyn (10), and Eleanor (3). All of Charlotte. She is also survived by two brothers, Vincent and Michael Fernan of Michigan and three sisters, Judy Deger of Florida, Francis Ring and Martha Ingier of Michigan. Her parents, Vincent D. Fernan and Helen M. Fernan and brother John Fernan predeceased her.
