Mary Sue O’Daniel, 87, of Salem, formerly of Jonesboro, departed this life on December 2, 2020.  She was born in Jonesboro on April 11, 1933 to Shellah and Etta Rose Anderson Dacus.

Mary Sue lived most of her life in Jonesboro as a housewife and homemaker.  She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church where she attended faithfully until moving to Horseshoe Bend in 2008.  She served her church as a secretary, member of the WMA, and choir.

Mary Sue will be remembered for her strong will as she would gladly take on a challenge.  She made Brenda go to church (you never asked if we were going) and learn to play the piano at a very young age. She loved to sew, decorate her home, cook, and can vegetables during the summer months when she was younger.  After the 1973 tornado she and Brenda painted houses for J.T. White Lumber Company. Throughout her life Mary always took pride in her appearance as her nails had to be painted and she never wanted a hair out of place.  She loved clothes especially anything in the color red.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Tom) Doty, of Salem; granddaughters, Tamara (Richard) Baughn, of Jonesboro, Lauren (Matt) Jeffery, of Wiseman, Kristen Doty, of Springfield, Missouri, and Hannah Doty, of Salem.
