Mary passed on Saturday, January 26, 2013, joining her husband, Dee, who preceded her in 1992.
Mary N. Sloan born May 19, 1923, in Pence Sask, Canada to William and Muriel Dey, and married Dee L. Sloan in 1944. Moved to Ventura, Calif., in 1965 with three children, Gerry, Connie and Colleen. Worked for Safeway both in Canada and in Oxnard.
Preceded in death by parents and husband, Dee; sister, Joy; brothers, George and Bud. After retirement from Safeway and Vons, Mary did volunteer work at St. John’s Hospital.
Mary is survived by Gerry Sloan (Stacey) of Santa Paula; Connie Russell (Dale) of Lethbridge Alta, Canada; Colleen Avey (Steve) of Phoenix, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; and three sisters.
The family would like to especially thank Mr. Treacy, Mary McGrath and their caring and professional staff at Treacy Villa in Ventura for the wonderful care in the last five years they were amazing!
