Mary Evelyn Sheda, age 98, died peacefully at Brookdale Mountain View Care Facility on February 8, 2018. Mary was born June 20, 1919, on the family farm near Norse, Iowa, and Nolan Settlement, the daughter of John A. Wall and Mary Leonard Wall. On the family farm, she learned the values of hard work family ties, Irish heritage, and her Catholic Faith. Mary was a survivor of the Great Depression which instilled in her a lifelong commitment to thrift and saving. She graduated from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and in 1944 left the family farm, along with her sister Marion Jean Jowell, and took a train west to Denver where she lived until her passing.
