Mary E. Schirmer, 89, of O’Fallon, IL, born August 8, 1923 in Oyster Bay, NY, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Terrace on the Park, Mascoutah, IL. Mary was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the NCO Wives Club at Scott Air Force Base.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chief MSGT, Edward A. Schirmer, USAF, retired, parents Joseph and Anna, nee Ranaldo, Genova, sisters and brothers. Mary is survived by a son Edward “Ted” & Corinne, nee Swistak, Schirmer of O’Fallon, IL, 4 grandchildren; Gina Stock-Schirmer, Steven Schirmer, Edward “Teddy” M. Schirmer, Lisa Schirmer, 4 great grandchildren; Tabitha, Tyler, Brianna, and Chase and dear friends, Frances Caldwell-West and Wilma Lesley. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to the loving and compassionate staff at Sycamore Village who brought so much love and light to Mary’s golden years, and the staff at Terrace on the Park and TIP Hospice.
