On Friday, May 27, 2016, Mary S. Rice, 89, entered eternal life at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford with her daughter and son by her side. Born in Hartford on August 25, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Richard & Catherine (Greaney) Seymour. She was a graduate of the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from St. Joseph College. Her career as a registered nurse entailed being a supervisor at the Hebrew Home in Hartford and retiring from the Jefferson House in Newington. As a woman of great faith, she was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of Church of the Holy Spirit. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John J. Rice, Sr. in 1977, and a son John J. Rice, Jr. in 2014. Left to cherish her memory are her children Mary Sternberg of Newington, J. Thaddeus Rice and his wife Cheryl of West Hartford, a daughter-in-law Diane Rice of West Hartford, and five grandchildren, Matthew, Emily, Tyler, Shayne, & Aleksandra.
