Mary Ruth Middleton, 85, of Jacksonville, died Thursday, June 24, 2010, at Jacksonville Convalescent Center.
She was born December 6, 1924, in Winchester, the daughter of Roy and Ruth McCarty Heaton. She married Elbert Allan Middleton on March 17, 1945, in Jacksonville, and he preceded her in death on June 11, 1982.
She is survived by two daughters and one son, Peggy (David) Maurer of Peoria, Gary (Loretta) Middleton of Jacksonville, and Julie (Gary) Chrislip of Shelton, CT; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Pieper.
Mrs. Middleton was a 1942 graduate of Jacksonville High School and then graduated from Brown’s Business College. She had helped her husband on the family farm for many years, and regularly attended Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Mary Ruth was well known for keeping a daily journal, and for keeping up with current events and world news.
