Mary Ruth Skinner, age 98, passed away on January 16, 2021, at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo, MI.

Mary was born April 11, 1922, in Haverhill, MA, the oldest child of Raymond and Helen (Deneau) McLaughlin.

On August 18, 1946, she was united in marriage to John F. Skinner, Jr. in Stoneham, MA. Following their marriage, they moved to the family farm in Indiana.

Mary received her Master’s Degree in Education from Purdue University in 1965 and taught 5th and 6th Grades in Lowell, IN. She was a longtime resident of Indiana, relocating to the Kalamazoo area in 2002, where she became a member of the Kalamazoo Area Newcomers Club. Mary was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.

Throughout the years, she enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and made trips to France, Italy, Spain, England and Turkey. She valued reading and classic movies. Mary especially loved spending time with her family and was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband John F. Skinner in 1984; by her son Kenneth Michael Skinner in 2013; and by all of her siblings.

Surviving are her children Jane Skinner Steimle (Robert) and John David Skinner; daughter-in-law Jane Skinner; grandchildren Emily Steimle, Susie Steimle Hall (Justin), Mathew Skinner, Allison Skinner McInnis (Andrew), John Robert Skinner, Ryan Skinner (Megan); great-grandchildren Abigail Skinner, Casey Skinner, Madeline McInnis; nieces and nephews.
