Mary Rose Schmitt, 85, of Tonica, died Tuesday afternoon, January 24, 2012 at Pleasant View in Ottawa. Mrs. Schmitt was born on July 27, 1926, in Ottawa to John and Rose B. (Coleman) Roth. She married Lester F. Schmitt on June 7, 1947, at St. Patrick Church in Ottawa. She was a member of Holy Family Church in Oglesby.
She is survived by two daughters, Rose Ann (Thomas) Lutz, of Wenona, Linda (Dennis) Dobrydnia, of Morris, four sons: Thomas (Margery) Schmitt, of Oglesby, Jerry (Debbie) Schmitt, of Lostant, John Schmitt, of Lostant, and Mark Schmitt, of Oglesby, 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and two brothers, William (Jean) Roth, of Peru, and Robert Roth, of Ottawa. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 14, 2000, and two brothers, Jack and Joseph Roth.
