Mary Rose DeFlece (nee Matarese), of Burlington, died Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Virtua-Samaritan Hospice, Mt. Holly at the age of 89. Mrs. DeFlece was born in Burlington and remained a lifelong Burlington resident. In her earlier years she worked at the old dress factory on Barclay Street, in Burlington. She was a homemaker who took great pride in her home.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting a variety of items, most of which she gave as gifts. She also enjoyed traveling with family and friends. She was active in the Golden Years Luncheon Club, the Burlington Township Senior Citizens’ Club, St. Paul’s Young at Heart Club, the Burlington Garden Club, the Burlington Chapter of Deborah, and she was a parishioner of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, in Burlington. She was the daughter of the late James and late Frances Matarese and the wife of the late Andrew D. DeFlece.
She was also predeceased by her brothers, Anthony, Broge, and Izzy and her sister, Josephine Spoltore and her brothers in law and their wives, Fred DeFlece and wife, Anna, and Dollie DeFlece and wife, Mickey. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Andrew and Carol DeFlece, of Jacksonville, her granddaughters and grandsons in law, Claire and Ralph Wainwright, of Columbus and Pam and Jesse DeSanto, of Delanco, her great grandsons, Adam and Levi Wainwright, as well as her sister, Angelina Frappolli and her brothers and sisters in law, Frank Matarese, Joseph and Emma Matarese and James, Jr. and Betty Matarese, as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins.
