Mary Elizabeth Rinkus,died peacefully on August 10, 2011 at the Terrace at Mountain Creek in Chattanooga TN, after a long decline. Mary or “Mamie” as many called her, was born on December 28, 1920 to the late Dr Francis Augustine Finnegan and Mary Scannell Lynch, both of Lowell, MA. Mary’s mother died during childbirth and her father subsequently was remarried to Nora Hannigan, who adopted Mary after Dr Finnegan’s untimely death, when she was 3 just years old. Mary attended Worcester MA city schools and received a Bachelors degree from Emmanuel College in Boston, MA. Mary met and married Commander Louis P. Rinkus, United States Navy, in 1944.
