Mrs. Mary Rose Abate Corvene, 93, of Cape Coral passed away at Hope Hospice on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, due to natural causes. With her work on earth completed, Mary Corvene was called to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, with her family by her side.
The daughter of the late Joseph & Caroline Abate, Mary was born on February 17, 1920, in Pittston, PA and lived her childhood and teen years in Pittston. She enrolled in 1945 in Eastern Bible Institute, Green Lane, PA., where she graduated as a minister of the Gospel in 1949. She then traveled extensively as an Evangelist through Western, PA and Eastern New York.
While living in Schenectady, Mrs. Corvene pastored Calvary Tabernacle A/G, Albany St from 1958-1968. She then pastored Highway Tabernacle A/G, in Mechanicville, NY from 1968 until she retired in May 1983.
Mrs. Corvene is survived by her loving son, Neil, who she lived with the past 5 years in Schenectady. In July 2013, they both moved to Cape Coral, FL. She is also survived by her loving granddaughter, Beth; her brother, Charles Abate of Phoenix, AZ, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was pre-deceased by her sister, Santa Buscemi & brothers, Joseph, Samuel & Leonard Abate of PA and Louis Abate of Springfield, MO.
Mary enjoyed a long and fulfilling life. She had and abundance of love, wisdom, care and comfort that she shared with everyone around her. Her greatest joy was doing the Lord’s work and tending to her family.
