Mary Pettit (nee Reed), of Newark, DE, formerly of Burlington, NJ, died Friday, July 22, 2011 at the Millcroft Assisted Living Facility, in Newark, at the age of 89. Mrs. Pettit was born in Roebling, NJ and lived most of her life in Burlington. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Burlington where she was as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Women’s Circle.
She was also a talented seamstress, quilter and needle worker who made quilts for all of her grandchildren. Wife of the late Harold, and sister of the late Herbert Reed, she is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Catherine and Richard Epperly, of Newark, DE, and Dorothy and Richard Stobaugh, of Palmyra, NJ, her four grandchildren, Christine Koense and Michael Epperly, both of Newark, DE, Heather Duff, of Delran, NJ, and Matthew Stobaugh, of Palmyra, NJ, her eight great-grandchildren, and her brother, Stuart Reed, of Frederick, MD.
