MARY ALICE “Mae-I” YOUNGBLOOD MYLES
Mary Alice Youngblood Myles of Tampa, FL passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021.
Mary Alice Youngblood Myles was born on April 23, 1933, to Alice Hobbs Youngblood (Cain) and Frank Youngblood in Bainbridge, GA. As an infant, she moved to Bean City, FL where she was raised by her maternal grandmother, Mary Hobbs Brinson. Educated in the Palm Beach County Public School system, she married Griffin Myles, Sr. on May 11, 1951. Mrs. Myles moved to Tampa, FL in 1953 with her husband and infant child, Lois, when he took a job with the International Longshoremen Association – Local 1402.
Having left school early to get married, she completed her senior year and graduated from Don Thompson (now Blake) High School in 1958, while pregnant with her fifth child. The couple bore five more children as she worked for numerous employers, landing employment at St. Joseph’s Hospital in 1972, retiring from there in 1998. She was a resolute member of Mt.
She is preceded in death by: her eldest son, Ray A. Myles (1953-2017); maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary Hobbs Brinson (1887-1986) and two grandchildren, R. Shaunti Myles (1975-1988) and Terrence Larry (1970-2021).
She leaves to mourn: her other five children, Mary D. (Lois) Myles, Griffin Myles, Jr., Janice O. Myles, Ronald Craig Myles, and Darryl S. Myles; two brothers, Dwight Cain of Detroit, MI and Frank Youngblood (Emma) of Lake County, FL; her mourning grandchildren, Torana Hunter Wright (James) of Dallas, TX, Angela Smith, Amber Myles Williams (Kobe) of Pensacola, FL, Ebony Myles-Klinger (Kevin) of Vancouver, WA, Miguel Myles, Rashema Myles, Janice Myles-Hinton (Ebony) of San Antonio, TX, Raynika Myles, Dominic Blaine Callaway (Tracy), Jenae Sampson, Ursula Prescott of Atlanta, GA, Savannah Myles, Dexter Myles, Griffin Myles III, Felicia Porter, R. Cedric Myles, Ronda Myles, Morgan Nelson and Charmane Vassor of Charlotte, NC, dear family friends who were always there during her illness include: Patricia Dubose, Evelyn White, Ree Timmons and Demetrius Jenkins. She also leaves a host of great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grandnieces/nephews as well as great, great grandnieces/nephews and cousins throughout Florida, South Carolina, Michigan, Nevada, Washington state and Arizona. A special thanks to Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their special care before and during our mother’s transition as they were great.
