Mary May (Collins) Callecod, 101, passed away in Bowling Green, OH. Saturday, January 8, 2011, following a brief illness. Mary was born in Momence, Illinois on November 14, 1909, and lived her entire life in that area and, since 2004, in the Village Woods Retirement Community in Crete, Illinois.

In 1974 Mary retired as an account clerk from the General Electric plant in Chicago Heights, Il. In her retirement, she helped organize and continued to be active in several senior citizen clubs. In honor of her dedication and efforts on the part of senior citizens, November 14 has been designated Mary Callecod Day in the Village of South Chicago Heights, Illinois since 2009. Mary loved to crochet, play cards, bingo, and work crossword puzzles; she continued to use the computer for e-mails and games well past her 100th birthday.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James O. Callecod, Sr.; a brother Robert Collins; a sister Lillian Collins; daughter, Betty Wilson; and grandsons Marshall Callecod and Brian Sherman.

Surviving are sister, Lucy White of Chicago Heights; daughter, Norma Sherman of Steger; sons James, Jr. (Joyce) of Sun Prairie, WI. and Robert (Joan) of Bowling Green, OH.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a dear friend, Herman Kruzel.
