Mary “Mary Kay” Newman was a caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She went home to the Lord due to Parkinson’s complications on the night of October 28, 2022 at the age of 58.
She was born to Marvin and Mavis Lorig on May 25, 1964. While finishing high school, Mary met her high school sweetheart, her husband, Jon Newman. Together, they had three children: Austin, Leah, and Tiffany. They loved being together; watching their favorite shows, raising their children, and playing with their granddaughters and the dogs.
Mary loved to be with her family. She enjoyed styling hair with her cosmetology license, especially her daughters. Tastefully decorated the family home for every season with handmade décor and beautiful antiques. She enjoyed taking her children to and from church, ballet, piano lessons, basketball practice, and more. She was a skilled baker and cook and filled her home with delicious meals, such as her classic pizza burgers or pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. She loved animals, especially her dogs Teddy, Maggie, and Aspen. They were more than pets, they were members of the family. Her granddaughters meant the world to her. She treasured playing with them, babysitting, and giving cuddles from grandma.
In addition to family time, decorating and making meals, Mary’s hobbies and passions included scrapbooking, exercise, watching movies, and attending Church and Bible Study.
She is preceded in death by her parents Marvin Lorig and Mavis Lorig (Dockter). She leaves behind her husband, son, two daughters, three sisters, and brother: Jon Newman, Austin Newman (Rachel), Leah Newman, Tiffany Newman, Pam Lorig, Tina Reimers (Jeff), Jon Lorig (Jane), and Heather Elhard (Chad). Mary also leaves behind her three granddaughters: Jocelynn Newman, Aubree Litzinger, and April Perez.
