Mary DiLella Mantilia, 95, of Orange, passed away on Saturday Sept. 19, 2015, peacefully at home after a long and happy life. She was born Feb.24, 1920 in Cerreto Sannita, Provincia Benevento, Italy, daughter of the late Biagio and Pasqualina Barbieri DiLella. She was raised in New Haven and graduated from Hill House High School in New Haven. Mary was an Orange resident for 57 years and the beloved wife of the late Albert L. Mantilia, Jr. for 65 years. She was an active member in numerous civic organizations, including The Hospital of St. Raphael Auxiliary and St. Anthony’s Orphanage both in New Haven and enjoyed bowling, tennis and golf. Mary’s true passion was cooking, which she will be well be remembered for and missed. In her later years, enjoying the winters in Boca Raton, FL, Mary and her husband enjoyed the sun, casino boats and those Sunday afternoons playing in the Putt Putt golf tournaments at the Porto Bella Condo.
Mary was the mother of Albert III (Barbara)of Clinton, Robert (Susan)of New Caanan and Peter (Rebecca) Mantilia of Fairfield. She was cherished by her grandchildren Dana Mantilia Fordyce, David (Dalma), Megan, Christine (Michael) Giordano , Andrew and Alyssa along with her five great grandchildren, Kayla, Kylie, Jillian Fordyce, George and David Mantilia. She is preâₐdeceased by her siblings, Filomena Falco, Annette Puleo, Albert, Felix , Vincent and Elsie DiLella.
