Salem Mary Mae Snider Chipps, 87, of Buckeye Community, Salem, died Sunday evening, January 9, 2011 at her home following an extended illness. She was born in Salem on October 11, 1923, a daughter of the late Ira and Stella Snider. She was married to Garland Chipps who preceded her in death in 1996. Also predeceasing her was a brother, Harley Snider; sisters, Ruby Nicholson, Beulah Hughes, Lulu Rollins, Goldie Vandine, and Beatrice Davis. Mary is survived by one son, Dick Lewis Chipps and his wife Sandra of Snowbird,; two grandchildren, Pamela Young and her husband, Deo of Wilmore, KY, and Steven Chipps and his wife Kristie of Thomasville, NC. ; three great-grandchildren, Kelsey Stout, Richard Thair Stout II, and Zacharia Chipps. She was Protestant by faith.
