Mary M. (Fitzgerald) Osborne passed away suddenly on June 24, 2013, doing what she loved, taking care of children. She was 71 years old. Born on September 24, 1941, she spent her whole life in Burlington, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Nolan) Fitzgerald. She was fiercely proud of her Irish Heritage. She was a graduate of Burlington HS. She worked at Grants Department Store, then Farmers and Mechanics Bank. After she married and started a family, she became a full time Mom. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s RC Church.

She was a member of the St. Paul’s School PTA working tirelessly to support the school and the children who went there. Some of her favorite things were Charles Chips, Boost, Turkey Hill Ice Cream and talking on the phone with her friends. Thirteen years ago she went to work as a Crossing Guard. This was much more than a job. It was an opportunity for her to take care of children and forge bonds with their families. She truly loved her work and all those entrusted to her care. They all became part of her extended family. Mary’s greatest joy in life was her family. she raised 5 children, spending countless hours at school functions and athletic contests. There were PTA meetings, fundraisers, class parties, carnivals, dances, graduations, etc.

She traveled to fields and gyms in many different towns and states. She was always there to support her children, always the proud Mom. There were family vacations, birthdays parties and holidays. All spent with the one’s she loved. She dearly loved her husband Robert, who left this world much too soon. In spite of the deep wound left by his early passing, she persisted, always putting her children first. she sacrificed much during her life in order to support her children and help them to become the people they are. As her children grew and married, she was blessed with grandchildren who she loved more than life itself. They were very special to her. She loved each of them for the unique individuals they are. She continued the tradition and attended many more school functions and athletic contest.

She was a proud Mom-Mom. Her brother was always part of her life. She was a devoted sister. She was also blessed with many dear cousins who completed her family. They will all miss her tremendously. Through the years Mary made many special friends who were also a dear part of her life. They were with her through both the good times and the bad. She shared many happy times in their company and made many memories.

Even though she was a strong and proud woman she knew that she could lean on them when times were difficult. She touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed.
