Mary M. Dawes, 91, formerly of Trout Run, died Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at the Williamsport Hospital of natural causes.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, George T. Dawes in 1995 and a brother, Ethan Allen Messinger Jr. in 1998.
Born November 26, 1917 in Watsontown, she was the daughter of Ethan Allen Sr. and Leda V. Rea Messinger.
Mary retired in 1979 after 22 years at the former Weldon Manufacturing. Previously she worked as a telephone operator in Trout Run and Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
Mary was a member of Trout Run United Methodist Church, a 1935 graduate of the former Watsontown Hill School and enjoyed crocheting, gardening, watching wildlife and spending time with family and friends. She and her husband traveled to all 50 states, most of the Canadian Provinces and lived part time in Frostproof, Fla., for 12 years.
Mary lived at the Williamsport Home Apartments the last 11 years and enjoyed her many friendships there.
Surviving are sons, James A. (Nancy) Dawes of Trout Run and Dennis G. (Debbie) Dawes of Princeton, ID; a daughter, Leigh Ann (Roy) Farrell of Tubac, AZ; grandchildren Jennifer and Jeanette Dawes, Alaina Hill, Chad Farrell, and Mackenzie and Levi Dawes and eight great grandchildren.
