Mary Louise Chefchis died peacefully surrounded by those she loved and who loved her on March 31st. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Chefchis, Sr. and her son, Gilbert Chefchis, Jr. She is survived by her sons Chris and James, and his wife Kay; her brother Raymond E. Vielma; her granddaughters, Stacy Renee Ramos, Denise Chefchis, and E. Valentina Chefchis; great grandchildren Nicholas Ramos, Wyatt Ramos, Morgan Ramos, Zackary Ladesma, and Kaitlyn Ladesma; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mary was born 90 years ago in Rosenberg, Texas to parents Valentina and Tomas Reyes Vielma. Her cherished siblings, now deceased, included Petra Garcia-Villarreal, Anita Vielma-Cervantes, Rev. Evaristo “Vare” Garcia, Candido Vielma, and Rev. Jesse E. Vielma.
As her parents before her, Mary was a life-long member of what is now named Casa Emanu-El United Methodist Church, which was originally located in “Little Mexico”, now part of downtown Dallas.
