Mary Louise McDonald Teasdale, 92 years old, passed away February 12, in Celina, Texas. She was the proud great-granddaughter of General Sam Houston and was his oldest living descendant. She was born in Stamford, Texas on October 30, 1919 to Jessie Morrow McDonald and Robert McDonald. After receiving her B.A. at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Mary Louise completed a M.A. in history at the University of Texas in Austin. She taught American History before becoming a homemaker. During her life, Mary Louise and her family lived in Schenectady, NY, Severna Park, MD, Austin, Ft Worth, and since 1967, the Dallas area. In each city, she was an active member of Phi Mu sorority and remained a steadfast, devoted Christian and member of the Presbyterian Church. She served as an elder at Bentwood Trail Presbyterian Church, Dallas where she was a member since 1967. One of her greatest joys was sharing information and family stories about her great-grandfather, Sam Houston, especially with school children who were treated to seeing her Houston family heirlooms. Mary Louise is survived by her three children: Margaret Teasdale of Austin; Teresa Young of New Castle, Delaware; Lissa Dallas of Prosper, Texas; and five grandchildren: Matthew Young, Alexander Young, Bryce Dallas, Collier Dallas, and Erica Dallas.
