Mary Louise Rowland Pe¤a passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at the age of 75. She was born on February 27, 1934 in Brownsville, Texas to Maria Luisa Hernandez and Homer Rowland, Jr. Mary Lou is survived by four children, Laura English and husband Donald, Nelda Cynthia Pe¤a, Henry Pe¤a, Jr. and wife Mirna, and Ernest Pe¤a; also ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. During her lifetime, Mary Lou worked in Civil Service for the US Government. In 1992, she graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word with a BA in Journalism and published a few short articles and poems. She recently wrote a novel. Mary Lou was preceded in death by former husband of eighteen years Enrique Pe¤a, mother Maria Luisa Hernandez Rowland, and granddaughter Jessica Pe¤a.
