Mary Louise (Reed) Menker, 88, passed away peacefully in her home in Miami, Florida on December 9, 2017. Mary was born on June 7, 1929, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Mary Ann Calderwood Reed and William Henry Reed. After growing up in Greenville, Ohio, Mary graduated from Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Dayton, Ohio in 1950. She met her husband Donald Menker in Dayton, and they were married in 1950. Mary and Don promptly moved to Coral Gables, and they remained South Florida residents for the rest of their lives. Mary and Don enjoyed stone crab dinners and sailing with the many friends they met at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. Later in life, Mary enjoyed her daily morning walks and regular dinner-and-movie nights with her tight-knit group of friends. Mary also loved traveling and staying in touch with family and friends across the country. Mary is survived by her children, David, Barbara, James and Andrew, her brother John Reed, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, her sister Adelyn Kennedy and her eldest son Steven.
