Mary Lou Korenich, of Salem, died at 1:52 a.m. Sunday, January 4, 2015 at the Hospice House in Poland. She was born June 28, 1931, in Green Township, Mahoning County. She was the daughter of the late Frank Ernest and Barbara Louise (Mikicich) O’Block. She was a 1950 graduate of Greenford High School, and lived in the area her whole life. She worked at Bank One for 41 years retired as secretary. Mary Lou was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church for many years. She belonged to AARP of Canfield # 3104, as well as organized and started the Bank One monthly retirees luncheons. A member of the Slovenian and Croatian Genealogy Society. She enjoyed polka music, casinos, and was an avid sports fan. She spent her winters in Florida, where she sang with the Nettle’s Island Theater Guild. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her husband, Mathew J. Korenich, whom she married October 7, 1970, preceded her in death May 16, 1976. Survivors include a sister, Patricia A. (Edward) Chizmar of Salem, Ohio; one brother, Dr. Frank R. O’Block of Columbiana, Ohio; many nieces and nephews.
