Mary Lou McIntire Harless, 81, Pendleton, passed away December 11, 2008 at Community Hospital, Anderson following a 28 year courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born October 7, 1927 in Boone County, Indiana, and was a 1945 graduate of Middletown High School.
Mary Lou was a homemaker and had worked for Pierce Govenor as a press operator. She was a 50 year plus member of Pendleton Christian Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, youth leader and Deaconess. Mary Lou was the 1st woman to graduate from Schwinn Bicycle Mechanic School to repair bicycles. She loved flowers and gardening. She grew glads, orchids and gloxemias from scratch.
Mary Lou enjoyed the Pendleton Farmer’s Market and working crossword puzzles. She is survived by her husband, Loris D. Harless; children, Steven Mark & wife Sue Harless, Marilyn & husband Matthew Wand, Sara Howell and Luke & wife Ann Harless; brother, Richard Bruce McIntire; sister, Frances Ann Lewis; half brother, Robert Dale McIntire; half sister, Nancy Ellen Fleming; grandchildren, Angela & Tyler Wand, Jonathan & Katrina Owens and Faith & Charity Howell; special friend, Mary Jane Leonard; several nieces and nephews.
