Mary Frances Payne Looney, age 92 entered heaven on May 23, 2022. Mary’s life was highlighted as a loving and devoted wife and mother. Nothing gave her greater joy than her children, grandchildren, and over the past several years, her great grandchildren. She was born in Etowah County and attended school in Ashville and Trussville. She also attended Jacksonville State University. Mary met Ed Looney, the love of her life, while working at Hayes Aircraft. Her loving care and devotion to her husband over his later years was a testament to their marriage. A member of the Healing Place Church in Trussville, Alabama, Mary loved Jesus and loved Biblical teaching and preaching.
Preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Edgar Anderson Looney, Jr; parents Bernard Payne and Era Lowery; brothers HB Payne and Sam Payne and sister Mildred Darnell; son John David Looney; and grandson Nathan Looney.
Mary is survived by two sons, Eddie (Debbie) Looney and Zach (Yvonne) Looney; four grandchildren, Brandon (Micheal) Looney, Laura Perry, Chris (Carey) Looney, and Scott (Kim) Looney; and seven great grandchildren, Ryan Perry, Cohen Looney, Harper Looney, Miles Looney, Emma Looney, Camina Looney, and Andy Looney.
