Mary Lonergan, 91, of Lincoln, IL and formerly of Jacksonville and Kampsville, IL died Monday, April 26, 2010 at Christian Village in Lincoln.

She was born November 14, 1918 in Calhoun County, IL; the daughter of Otto and Catherine Gansz Retzer. She married Donald E. Lonergan on February 25, 1943 in Jacksonville, IL and he preceded her in death on January 26, 2009.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Swanson (husband, John) of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Theresa Patterson (husband, John) of Alton, Mary Boyd (husband, Jeff) of Defiance, OH, John P. Swanson of Aurora, and Thomas Swanson of Cleveland, OH; three great grandchildren, Jack Patterson, Emily Patterson, and Andrew Boyd; four siblings, Joseph Retzer of Jerseyville, Helena Roth (husband, Harold) of Michael, Eugene Retzer of Peoria, and Martha Childers of Herrin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by eight siblings, Otto J. Retzer, Louise Kasinger, Katherine Bayless, Theresa Bowman Adams, Frank Retzer, Bertha Follis, Edward Retzer, and Robert Retzer.

Mrs. Lonergan owned and operated a restaurant in Jacksonville for several years and later worked as a seamstress for J. Capps & Sons. She was a member of the Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville and the Morgan County Home Extension. She enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing with her husband and served as a volunteer at Passavant Hospital.
