Mary Lee (Lauck) Battles, 81, of New Palestine, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, June 3, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 29, 1941 in Indianapolis to the late Leo W. and Anna Marie (Ohleyer) Lauck.
Mary Lee was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, class of 1959 and Marian College where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1963. She retired from Indianapolis Public Schools as a budget analyst for the Instructional Media & IT departments after 26 years.
Mary Lee was an active member of St. Simon the Apostle parish & school for many years. She was instrumental in helping St. Simon with the organization of their parish festival, fundraising activities, coach, track meet timer, and above all, and maybe most remembered as the ‘Playground Mom’. Mary Lee loved reading mystery novels and watching mystery shows like Murder She Wrote & NCIS. Mary Lee thoroughly enjoyed her family & friends.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Richard Battles; children, John, Mike (Maureen), Beau (Kimberly), Debra Cunningham and Tina (Rob) Montgomery; siblings, Jo Ann Lichtenberg, Barbara J. (Anders) Flodin, Leo B. (Bernadette) Lauck, Rosemary Beckham, Anthony W.
