Mary Lee Laprade died peacefully in her sleep after a long illness, on December 28, surrounded by family, at the home of a daughter in Ambler, PA.

She was born on March, 20, 1925 in Danville, Virginia. After graduating from Stratford College, she worked for The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation as a Secretary alongside dignitaries such as the Rockefellers and Winston Churchill. She was the first person to view the Grand Illumination of Colonial Williamsburg.

She married Robert H. Laprade and they moved to Linthicum, Maryland, where she devoted her life to her family, friends, and church. Later she worked for the Maryland State Department of Education. Up until her illness, she was involved with numerous organizations, including P.E.O., the Women’s Club of Linthicum, the Red Hats Society, and Linthicum United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling and reading.

She is survived by three children, Rev. Dr. Ann R. Laprade and Son-in-law Thomas McCarthy, Dr. Robert H. Laprade, Mary Preston Laprade Walter and Son-in-law Dr. James Walter, three grandchildren Timothy, Alex, and Rebecca (Becky) Walter, her brother William (Bill) Fitzgerald and Sister-in-law Betty Fitzgerald, Sister-in-law Barbara Fitzgerald, nieces and nephews, cousins, and many good friends, family, and neighbors. She is predeceased by her husband Robert H. Laprade and brother Robert Fitzgerald.
