Mary Jane (Hammerle) Lawhead, 88, of Bloomington passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 at her residence. Born, March 28, 1926 in Prescott, IN; she was the daughter of Edward and Alice (Bogemann) Hammerle. Mary Jane was an accomplished musician playing the organ and piano starting at age five and playing her first solo song in church at age seven.

She played for multiple churches, funeral homes, and the Durbin Hotel in the dining area and the piano bar. Mary Jane was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed quilting and being a music teacher for 47 years. Survivors include her children, Mary Therese Kozak (Bo) of Minneapolis MN, Richard Schroeder (Cindy) of Glenwood, Rosalie Porter of Temecula, CA, Donald Schroeder (Dee) of Noblesville, Annette “Annie” Schroeder of Bloomington, Christopher Schroeder of Hyattsville, MD and Michael Schroeder of San Francisco, CA; her grandchildren, Robert “Bobby” Schroeder (Jennifer), Jessica Briscoe (Tim), Rachel Schroeder, Laura Marszalek (Josh), Amy Porter, Katie Porter, Erin Wright (Daniel), Jill Rodman (Wes) and Shannon Newlin; 10 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, one brother, Eugene “Jack” Hammerle and daughter-in-law, Donna Schroeder.

She was preceded in death by two sons, infant Dennis Michael Schroeder and Robert Eugene Schroeder; her husbands, Joseph Schroeder and Wylie Lawhead; one grandson, Matthew Schroeder; one sister, Wilma Maxine Hammerle, and a sister-in-law, Charlene Hammerle.
