Mary L. Schneider, 86, of Springfield, IL and formerly of Jacksonville, IL died Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Capitol Care Center in Springfield.
She was born December 29, 1928 in Jacksonville, the daughter of Arthur L. and Ruth F. Vieira Schneider.
She is survived by a brother, Robert Schneider (wife, Marilyn) of Jacksonville and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward Schneider in infancy, Arthur Eugene “Gene” Schneider, and Harold Lee Schneider.
Mary owned and operated Smokey’s Bar in Springfield for many years. In years past, she was a talented softball player who was elected to the Illinois Women’s Softball Hall of Fame. An avid Chicago Cubs fan, Mary enjoyed riding horses and hunting.
