McGeehan1932~2021Mary McGeehan, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and longtime resident of Malvern, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on Sunday, September 5, 2021 surrounded by her was born on June 22, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She graduated from West Catholic Girls High School in 1950 and four years later she married her high school sweetheart, Joe. In 1957, Joe and Mary bought their home on Carol Lane in Malvern and it was there, for the next 63 years, that they created many wonderful memories with their family and the years, Mary had a variety of part time jobs and volunteer positions. She especially loved the years she spent volunteering at Paoli Memorial Hospital. If you were to ask her, Mary would tell you that her greatest role in life was being a wife and mother. Mary and Joe loved the beauty of our country and camped in many National Parks throughout the years. In 1994, they spent their summer as volunteer campground hosts in Glacier National Park, fell in love with Glacier and Fish Creek Campground, in particular. They decided to make this an annual tradition and went on to spend 14 summers volunteering in Glacier, cherishing the beauty of the park and helping others to make their own special memories in loved her friends and invested in each one of them deeply. It was the little things that she did with them: phone calls, writing letters, long walks, shopping trips and lunch dates that were actually the big things. She had a zest for life that was contagious. When you were with Mary, you couldn’t help but smile and laugh. If Mary wasn’t singing, she was laughing or smiling or giving someone a hug or a kiss. She exuded love and joy.Family was everything to Mary. She was the best mother that anyone could ever hope for. She instilled a deep love for family in each of her daughters. Mary formed a special bond with each of her grandchildren. She showed up to every soccer game, recital, birthday party, grandparent’s day and holiday. Mary also had a wonderful relationship with her great-grandchildren. She sang the same songs to them that she had sung to her grandchildren and her children when they were young. She became affectionately known to her great-grandchildren as Silly Grandmom. Every daughter, son-in-law, grandchild and great-grandchild received a singing telegram from Mary and Joe on their birthday, every year, without fail. She made everyone around her happy. She was fun. She was silly. She was joy. Before she was ever a wife, a mother, a grandmother, or a great-grandmother, she was a young woman of faith. She loved God with all of her heart and she knew that He loved her unconditionally. It was that knowledge and faith that allowed her to love others the way that God loves. Mary lived a life that was filled with faith, family, friends and fun. The hole that has been left in our hearts, has been more than filled by the memories of the smiles, laughs, hugs and kisses that she shared while she was with us.Predeceased by her loving parents, Richard and Lillian Rorke and her brother, Richard is survived by her husband of 67 years, Joseph E. McGeehan; her five daughters and their spouses, Donna (Paul) Carberry of West Chester, PA, Marybeth (David Lavelle) McGeehan of Venice, FL, Paula (Earl) Hoover of Fort Worth, TX, Christine (Nick) Ficca of Pottstown, PA and Joann (Andrew) George of West Chester, PA; 13 grandchildren and their spouses, Joseph (Jennifer) Carberry, Matthew (Katie) Carberry, Kate (Elijah) Ansart, Brian (Jessica) Carberry, Megan Bonifacino, Anthony Bonifacino, Anna (Eliot) Rosenfield, Earl Hoover III, Rachel Ficca, Amanda Ficca, Nicholas Ficca, Samantha George and Mary George; and eight great-grandchildren, Olivia Kate, Grayson Joseph, Daniel Liam, James Edward, Gabriel Pierce, Farrah Brooke, Ellie Jo and Evie are invited to St.
