Mary Louise McCarthy, 93, of Ansonia, CT, wife of the late Edward J. McCarthy and loving mother of Edward C. and Kevin D. McCarthy, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2009 at Griffin Hospital, Derby, CT, after a short illness. Mary is also survived by her brother, Philip E. Moriarty of Fort Pierce, FL, two grandchildren, David E. and Sheridan A. McCarthy, and one great grandchild. Mary was born on August 7th 1916 in New Haven, daughter of the late Lewis E. and Mary L. Moriarty.
Mary was a 1934 graduate of Hillhouse High School, where she lettered in Field Hockey, Basketball, and Swimming. Mary went on to a wonderful career as the owner of Your Beauty Shop in Milford for over 50 years, retiring in 1998 at the age of 82. Over the years, Mary met and dressed the hair of many notable theatre people, including Geraldine Page, Esther Williams, and Charles Farrell. She also taught at various Hairdressing Academies in Connecticut and New York City.
