Mary Lou Wayne-Johnson was the second of five children born to the late Joe Wayne and Ada Mays-Wayne. She was born on July 9, 1930 in Greenwood, LA.

Mary was raised in Greenwood and received her formal education there. After graduating from Booker T. Washington High School she attended and graduated from Spaulding Business College. Mary Lou moved to San Diego, CA in 1953. While working at “Bennett’s CafAC.”, owned by her Aunt Lizzie and Uncle Willie Bennett, she met the love of her life, Clyde Johnson. Mary Lou and Clyde were married on February 22, 1954 and their union was blessed with five children. She enjoyed being a ‘stay-at-home’ Mom when her children were young. Later she went to work at Hydro Products and retired after twenty years of employment.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde and three siblings, Betty Dotson, Lillian Williams and Joe Willie Wayne.

Mary Lou Wayne-Johnson entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 3, 2013 in San Diego, CA. She leaves to cherish her sweet memory: her five children, Sharon Johnson-Franklin, Ronald Johnson (Bridgett), Regina Bannister (Terry), Richelle Cunningham (Stanley) and Eric all of San Diego, CA; one sister, Evelyn Williams of Shreveport, LA; one aunt, Gennie Arkansas of Greenwood, LA; one sister-in-law, Lois Williams of Sacramento, CA; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
