Mary Kate Koiner Kenas was born on Valentine’s Day, 1921, in Krum, Texas,the 6th child of Silas and Tommie Koiner. Mary Kate passed away February 26, 2004 at the age of 83 in San Antonio, Tx. As a young girl, Kate moved with her family to Denton where she attended school and grew up. On April 27, 1940, she became a nineteen year old bride as she married William Kenas in Dallas, Texas. They started a family in Denton, after adventures in the Army during the War and later moved to Carrollton, Texas, their home of over 30 years. In 1983, Bill and Kate retired to Georgetown, Texas. They spent 12 happy years in the Hill Country and had celebrated 55 happy years of marriage when Bill passed away October 25, 1995. Kate returned to North Texas in 1996 to be closer to family and moved again to Boerne in 1998. Kate is survived by her daughter, Tommie Schulz and son in law, Harvey Schulz, of Medina; Son, Rodney Kenas and daughter in law, Debbie Kenas of Dickinson, Texas; Five granddaughters, Sara Schulz Koehn of Allen, Texas, Susan Schulz of Houston, Hanna Kenas of Dickinson, Rebecca Kenas and Laura Kenas of College Station, TX; Sister, Jewel Shipp of Conroe, TX; many nieces and nephews.
