Mary Schudy was born on May 21, 1919 in Butte, Montana, the daughter of John and Annie Kelly. Mary was the third child of seven, five boys and two girls. She attended Catholic grade and high school and began her career as an office worker. She worked in Butte, Denver and Los Angeles. While in Los Angeles, she met and married the love of her life, Bill Schudy. Bill died in 1983. Mary continued working in Los Angeles until her retirement. Mary was an avid race walker, going to many races throughout the intermountain west. She even went to a few races in Hawaii. She almost always placed first in these races. On retiring, she moved to Missoula, Montana to be near her brother, Fr. Emmett Kelly. In 2005, Fr. Emmett having passed away, she moved to Boise, Idaho near her brother Bill and his family. She spent her last nine years at Valley View Senior Center in Boise , Idaho. Sherry and the staff at Valley View were very good to her and made her years there very happy and enjoyable.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John, Flurry, Fr. Emmett and Bill, and sister Ann and their spouses. She is survived by her brother Joe and his wife Jeanne, and many nieces and nephews.
