Mary Katherine Hauck Stillman, 86 of Greensburg, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022.
She was born September 6, 1936 in Millmont, PA, a daughter of the late Clarence and Grace (Kline) Hauck.
Mary moved to Greensburg from Lewisburg, PA. She was very active in the local and state organizations. Mary was a member of First United Methodist Church in Greensburg, serving on the Church Council and serving as Dinner Chair and also worked on District level. She was a recipient of the God and Service Award from the local church and a Torch Award from the Bishop of Western PA Conference of the United Methodist Church for her work with the youth through Scouting Ministries. She served with the Boy Scouts of America since 1967, having co-founded Pack 419 and served many positions including Committee chairman. She was also the first woman District chair in Westmoreland-Fayette Council and held several key district positions. She also served on the national level, being a staff member of 1982 and 1983 National Explorer Olympics and also receiving scouting awards including the Silver Beaver Award and Spurgeon Award. Mary served with the Girls Scouts as well, where she served at a council level working as a co-chair for the Annual Fund Raising Dinner and was also nominated for the Woman of Distinction Award. Mary also served in Job’s Daughters since 1973. During her time she served as Bethel Guardian and many other positions including Past Grand Guardian of PA (CEO) and as Past Grand Bethel Guardian. Mary joined the Order of the Amaranth Chapter 25 in Jeannette and served as a Past Royal Matron and Past Grand Royal Matron of PA (CEO) and served in many other positions from the local and state levels to the national level as a past Deputy Supreme Royal Matron. Mary also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 435 in Greensburg and was a past Worthy Matron and past Grand Matron. She also belonged to the White Shrine of Jerusalem in Greensburg. Mary also enjoyed her membership to the Daughters of the American Revolution Phoebe Bayard Chapter in Greensburg. Mary was honored with the Alumni Award for community service from Lock Haven University.
Prior to Mary’s retirement, she taught for over thirty years between Mifflinburg Area School District and the Hempfield Area School District.
Mary is survived by her loving family. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Frank Stillman; son, Frank K. Stillman; daughter, Kay E. Stillman Steiner Rowles; siblings, Jane Moone, Betty Hollenbach, Mickey Hauck, and George Hauck; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, David Hauck, John Hauck, Evelyn Hauck, and Brenda Hauck.
