Mary Bodnar Skrak Kassakian, 94, formerly of New Haven, passed away May 7, 2007 in St. Raphael’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Daniel Sarkiss Kassakian. Born in Pennsylvania March 30, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence & Elizabeth Bodnar Skrak. During World War II, she did her part in the war effort by working at A.C. Gilbert Co. Later, she worked at the Hosp. of St. Raphael until her retirement. Mary was a very private person, genuinely shy around people. She loved her family and her God. We all remember her special maple walnut cake. She is survived by 2 daughters, Edith Gadar Carbone of Hamden, formerly of Woodbridge & Barbara Bowe; 4 cherished grandchildren, Nadine Kulenski of Oxford, Stanley (Heather) Kulenski of Cheshire, Atty. Robert F. Carbone Jr. of Bakersfield, CA, and Danielle Carbone (John Montecucco) of Vashon Island, WA.; 5 great grandchildren, Ariel, Elisabeth, Sarah, Bobby & Tyler, all of whom will miss her. She was predeceased by a brother, John Skrak & a sister, Elizabeth Skrak.
