Mary “Josephine” (Faulkiner) Mayle, age 84, of Philippi, Clemtown Community, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at Rosewood Nursing and Rehab Center, surrounded by her family. She was born in Barbour County, WV, January 18, 1926, a daughter of the late Roy and Dorcas (Kennedy) Faulkiner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Mayle in 1978. “Jose” was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an “old fashioned” cook, and was known to have been a very good cook. She also was an avid gardener. She enjoyed going to church, when she was able, and had attended the Wesleyan Holiness Church. Surviving are: four children, Roy “Jim” Mayle and wife Sandy, of Grafton, Wanda Hiffernan and husband Dennis, of Ft. Wayne, IN, Merle Thumm and husband Dennis, of Grafton, and Diana Paine, of Monroeville, IN; fifteen grandchildren, Jimmy Calvin Mayle, Janine Mayle, Shawn Mayle, Sherry Mayle, David Kimmey, Lisa Kimmey, Jason Hiffernan, Angel Hiffernan, Rachel Thumm, Sarah Thumm, Abby Hess, Aaron Thumm, Robert Paine, Nicole Paine, and Clint Paine; six great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; three brothers, Carvel Faulkiner, of Philippi, Arden Community, Robert Faulkiner and wife Velma, of Michigan, Hayward Faulkiner and wife Jarva, of Michigan; two sisters, Lorena Mayle, of Michigan, and Wanda Nelson and husband Ervin, of Missouri; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one grandson, Willard Lee Mayle.
