Sullivan, Mary Joan, 67, passed to Heaven on March 19, 2010 after a heroic struggle with brain cancer. Mary Joan was born October 22, 1942 in Detroit to the late John Sullivan and Margaret Garrett. Mary Joan was blessed in her grandparents: Anthony Sullivan and Catherine Burke who emigrated from Clare, Ireland and John Garrett and Agnes Gilroy from Avoca PA. Mary Joan graduated from Immaculata High School. She received a bachelor degree from Detroit Business College (Davenport University). She began her career in banking at National Bank of Detroit. She retired in 2001 from J P Morgan Chase as Senior Vice President in Trust Performance. Mary Joan then gave of her time as a volunteer at Henry Ford Hospital in Wyandotte MI. and as a member of the American Association of University Women. Mary Joan found great joy in supporting numerous charities including; Michigan Humane Society, Forgotten Harvest, THAW, Goodfellows and Doctors without borders. Mary Joan is survived by her brother Michael Sullivan, her sister Kathleen Sullivan, and her dog Chloe. She is also survived by her Aunt Mrs. Laurena Holland, and by her cousins Susan Holland and Timothy and Anna Sullivan and a special group of supportive friends.
