Mary Joan Mills, 73, passed away March 11, 2020 at her home in Newnan. Mary was born February 14, 1947 in Casper, WY to the late James Harold Mills and Elizabeth Anna Wiederhold Mills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Mills. Mary moved to Newnan in 2015 and quickly became involved in her new community. She joined St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where she was active in their ladies’ group, Daughters of the King. Mary worked for several years as the office manager for the Newnan Coweta Historical Society where she quickly made many friends. She was an avid reader and was active in the Historic Book Club at the A. Mitchell Powell, Jr. Library. She was also a member of the ladies Kiwanis Club where she participated in the Coweta County Fair. At the 2016 and 2017 Coweta County fair, Mary won the first-place blue ribbon in the cake decorating contest.
